Daytime Blue Ridge: Lemonade Drinks For Summer Sipping

In the summer heat, nothing refreshes and cools like an ice-cold glass of Lemonade. With that in mind, here is a simple recipe for making your own Lemonade, as well as a few drink recipes featuring the most thirst-quenching summer beverage of all.

Lemonade
Making your own lemonade is quite simple. Plus, when made at home, you can adjust ingredients to your specific taste!

Ingredients:
1 cup Water
1 cup Sugar
1 cup Freshly-squeezed Lemon Juice
4 cups Water

Procedure:
Bring 1 cube water to just boiling
Stir in Sugar Until dissolved
Stir in Lemon Juice
Allow to cool
In a Pitcher, stir in 4 cups water (or to desired dilution)

Shandy
A Shandy is quite simply equal parts Beer and some type of Lemon or Lemon-Lime mixer. It is often made with citrus-flavored soda, but here I like to depend on the beer for the slight carbonation and use the homemade Lemonade that has been made to taste.

Ingredients:
6 ounces Lemonade
6 ounces Lager or Pilsner Beer
Lemon Wedge for Garnish

Procedure:
Fill tumbler or glass halfway with lemonade
Top with equal part Lager or Pilsner beer
Garnish with Lemon Wedge

Strawberry Mint Lemonade Smash
With a few simple ingredients, your Lemonade will absolutely shine in this easy-to-make cocktail!

Ingredients:
1 Strawberry
4 – 5 fresh Mint Leaves
1 1/2 ounces Vodka
3 1/2 ounces Lemonade
Lemon Wedge and/or Strawberry for Garnish

Procedure:
In cocktail glass, muddle Strawberry and Mint
Fill glass with ice
Add vodka
Add lemonade
Stir
Garnish with Lemon Wedge or Strawberry

Bourbon-Spiked Lemonade
Easy-to-make and easy-to drink!

Ingredients:
1 1/2 ounces Bourbon
3 1/2 ounces Lemonade
Lemon Wheel for Garnish

Procedure:
In cocktail shaker, add Bourbon and Lemonade
Shake vigorously for 30 seconds
Strain into ice-filled cocktail glass
Garnish with Lemon Wedge
